PERSONALITY.
According to Marisa's book, Perfect Memento in Strict Sense, Alice has a high friendship level and understanding with humans due to very strong evidence she was once one herself. Acts of kindness range from letting lost wanderers stay the night at her house to guiding them out of the perplexing Forest of Magic. However, anyone who stays with her will see she is a quiet and demure individual who diligently works on her magic research and offers very little to no conversation. As such, guests tend to flee.
Unlike a typical Youkai, Alice is non-aggressive and won't attack humans unless adequetely provoked. As long as you don't challenge her or attack her dolls, she'll leave you alone. Though as Alice seems to be a hermit, preferring to keep to herself inside her home, the aforementioned book penned by the Ordinary Magician states she does, in fact, like to intermingle with humans. She has been known to use her puppets to put on shows from time to time in human settlements.
Just like Marisa, Alice is a hoarder. She loves to collect things. But unlike Marisa, Alice is not known to steal. At least not from Marisa.
In battle, Alice acts as a tactical commander. A sort of Queen Bee of sorts. She ia not known to use her full might in battle, but she does well enough using her legion of dolls to cover all sorts of attack and defense movements. As such, the weakness of the doll Legion is Alice herself.

HISTORY.
Alice makes her first appearance in Makai (Mystic Square) as the Stage 3 boss. And later again in possession of the Grimoire of Alice. Her motives are to test her strength.
She appears again during the Stolen Spring incident as the Stage 3 boss again to investigate, only to get waylaid by Reimu and Marisa.
Alice teams up with Marisa in the Eternal Night incident, the first time she's sided with the odd heroes.
Alice once more aides Marisa using her dolls in Touhou 11.
Alice investigates the Scarlet Weather incident, but doesn't reach her goal due to her avoidance of strong opponents. She had to draw a line at Remilia Scarlet.
Alice was later responsible for the giant doll anomaly.
